A Commitment To Wellness

SoLife smiling groupCan anyone believe that it’s already the middle of July?  I don’t know about you, but this summer seems to be flying by.  I’ve always heard that “Time flies when you’re having fun”.  Well…I am having fun in this season of my life.  Things are going great and I am feeling very blessed.  However, I can only say this as a result of the spiritual growth that I experienced during the most difficult time of my life… when time definitely was not flying by!

Another popular saying is “Time heals all wounds”.  Well…I will have to disagree with that one…I believe that God heals all wounds…time alone does not do it.  If we are experiencing physical problems, we don’t hesitate to call a Dr. but for some reason, during times of emotional stress, we hesitate to get help.  Christian counseling is the best RX for God’s answers for whatever issues you may be dealing with.

Andrew Counts was a true blessing to me during my times of hardship.  He is also one of the co-founders of Solife, which was birthed as a result of one (or several) of our counseling sessions.

Now…a word from Andy:

Counseling: A Commitment to Wellness

by Andrew Counts, MA, LPC

Recently, as I walked into work, I noticed two ‘unwell’ cars on the parking lot. The first was brand new, but had obviously been in a fender bender. The front bumper was tied up and there was duct tape covering some of the shattered places. The other car had a broken-out back window with some plastic sheeting to cover the gaping ‘wound’.

Both of these cars were drivable – but both had problems that made them less than whole.

These problems were mostly cosmetic, but under the right circumstances, could be dangerous. The owners had taken steps to patch problems, but for the vehicles to be whole again, they would have to be repaired by a professional.

We can think of Counseling in a similar vein. When we find ourselves confronted with problems in our lives, we can patch ourselves up and probably make it through – but to be really well sometimes requires the help of a professional. Think of it as a Commitment to Wellness – something you spend time and money on because you want to be whole again.

Over the course of 25 years of counseling practice every conceivable problem has presented itself in my counseling office. Especially when dealing with divorce, single parenting and relationship issues, it’s very likely that we can help you get through the steps of healing quicker, more completely and ultimately better than the ‘do-it-yourself’ job. For the sake of being really well, don’t let your reservations about counseling keep you from pursuing the health you need.
