What is the Harvest?
Webster’s dictionary gives several definitions such as “the season of gathering” or “the result of any effort” Solife just celebrated it’s 3 year Anniversary in September. That is really hard to believe! Of course, if you’ve looked at the pictures on this website, you can see that we have had a lot of fun activities over the last three years. Solife is a group with the mission of “Enjoying Christian Solo Living” and I believe that mission is being accomplished. However, I have to ask myself…what is the Harvest? Have there been results from these three years of effort that impact the Kingdom of God? I believe the answer is YES!
I have seen so much spiritual growth in individuals through the different small groups that we’ve had. I’ve seen broken people come to the Divorce Care classes and leave, not only healing, but much closer to God. There are strong friendships that I believe will last a lifetime. And yes…although it’s not our primary focus, I have seen healthy dating relationships progress to level of marriage. These are friendships and marriage relationships being built with God as their foundation. Most of them start at the level of attending a First Friday Event, then grow as they get connected with other activities.
So now as we enter yet another “season of gathering”, ask yourself “what is my harvest”? Are you truly enjoying Christian Solo Living? Are you growing and becoming spiritually whole in your singleness? Are your relationships healthy, with God at the center of them all? Do you have fellowship with other Christian Singles who will hold you accountable and be there for you in times of sorrow or joy?
These are the things that make up the Solife Harvest and we want to continue to plant more seeds throughout the valley. If your answer to any of the questions above was “no”, then Solife might just be the place for you to begin this new season. If your answer to any of the questions was “yes”, then there is no better opportunity to join in the ministry of helping other Christian Singles who may not yet be where you are.
Ecclesiastes 11:4 says “Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant, if they watch every cloud - they never harvest” NIV
What are you waiting for? Don’t focus on the clouds in your life…take this opportunity to be part of a plentiful Harvest for the Kingdom of God. It may actually change your life but more importantly, you may get to experience the blessing of helping change someone else’s.
Blessings,
Rita
